Damn...where do you start with the Cold Crush ?.....First off any one who signs a deal to be a so called rap artist should have to sit down and study at least 10 Cold Crush tapes / routines....seriously . These cats are the epitome of what an Emcee should be . Live performance...thats it right there . Honestly with the exception of " Fresh , Fly , Wild and Bold the Cold Crush didnt make great records . Some of this was poor backing from record labels...primarily Tuff City who they recorded under for most of their Career.

The Cold Crush bros. are Djs Charlie Chase and Tony Tone , Grandmaster Caz , JDL , Almighty KG and Easy AD. The whole crew had skills lyrically , but Caz was the front man....full name Grandmaster Casanova Fly . This is the man who wrote Big Bank Hanks parts for " Rappers Delight". In this era Caz and Melle from the Furious 5 were the best . The best live joints by the Cold Crush are " Knuckle Head Rap " ," Its Us" , " Cold Crush vs Fantastic Five" , " The Weekend " and " Evette " . You can check the movie Wild Style for hot performances by the Cold Crush . The first record by Cold Crush was " The Weekend " around 1981, then came " Punk Rock Rap " . " Heartbreakers" came later and a few more singles , but their best record was 1984s " Fresh , Fly , Wild and Bold". With help from Profile on distribution this single was the best display of their talent on wax . Cold Crush was one of the first crews to have a hispanic Dj , and at one time Prince Whipper Whip (who later joined rival crew Fantastic 5) was a member.

Harmonizing heavily over precise back spins by Djs Charlie Chase and Tony Tone was a key to the incredible stage presence of these 4 emcees . The routines were air tight and rarely contained any flaws . Caz continued to make noise with some solid solos throughout the late 80s . The Cold Crush reunited on Terminator Xs mid 90s release " The God Fathers Of Threat " . Caz also appeared on the Treacherous 3s " Old School Flava " Lp . Again politics & Bullsh*t makes it so the Sugarhill Gang is a household name while not too many know about the Cold Crush !
